Re-designing an existing website
why should you re-design your website?
You might be wondering why you should re-design your website? After all the one you've got has worked perfectly well for years, or at least you think it does. The truth may be that if you website was created quite some time ago, it was probably created using frames or tables, which in today's web design world is no longer an acceptable method of construction for a web site.
Today websites are expected to work on many different browsers (IE, Firefox etc.), they are also expected to be accessible to all users, including those who are disabled (a requirement of the law). They therefore need to be constructed using coding that meets W3C's web standards, in order to ensure that they meet all of the above criteria.
If your website was constructed a number of years ago, it is unlikely that it will meet all of the above criteria, and also perhaps it could do with a nice fresh look too? Read on below to find out the benefits of having a re-design done on your website.
What are the benefits?
The main benefits of a website re-design are:
- To attract new visitors with a fresh new look, and keep existing visitors interested in your website/services/products;
- To increase accessibility and usability of the website (and ensure your website is legal);
- To ensure that compliant coding is used to constuct your website (using Cascading Style Sheets and XHTML);
- Increase revenue by allowing your website to sell your services more easily;
- Ensure pages load properly and there are no broken links - no customer likes to be kept waiting, they simply go elsewhere;
- To improve your website above that of your competitors, thereby gaining new and increased business;
- To ensure that your website works across many browsers, thereby reaching a wider range of visitors/customers;
- Re-designing an existing website is often more cost effective than creating a new one from scratch.
